Before your pet's scheduled bloodwork appointment
- For most of our patients, withholding food for 10 hours prior to their appointment is strongly recommended. Pets should come hungry anyway, so they are ready for our yummy treats!
- If your pet is under 10 lb. or has been diagnosed with kidney disease, please give food on your pet’s regular schedule.
- If your pet is a diabetic, please give food and insulin on your pet’s regular schedule.
- Please give water freely at all times.
- Give any regular medications at proper times; you may administer with 1 teaspoon of food if necessary.
Scheduled surgical and sedation procedures
- No food after 10 p.m. the night before.
- Please give water freely at all times.
- Give any regular medications at proper times; you may administer with 1 teaspoon of food if necessary.
- All pets under 10 lb. or those diagnosed with kidney disease, please give 1/3 normal breakfast amount no later than 5am.
- Diabetic patients: withhold breakfast and give 1/2 dose of insulin amount.
Pre-scheduled drop-off appointments
- Includes x-rays, ultrasounds, and/or any type of bloodwork.
- Most pets - no food after 10 p.m. the night before.
- Please give water freely at all times.
- Give any regular medications at proper times; you may administer with 1 teaspoon of food if necessary.
- Any pets under 10 lb. or those diagnosed with kidney disease, please give 1/3 normal breakfast amount no later than 5am.
- Diabetic patients: withhold breakfast and give 1/2 dose of insulin amount.
